The sun it sets

You've gotta know when to loosen a grip that is too tight.
One that first grabbed hold years before.
Don't hold on too tightly, it limits the circulation in relationships.
You may create a clot.
Overzealous, through pure well-meaning, temper your keenness,
Respect yourself as well as others.
You have a right to be heard, yet not by force. Don't lift their hand,
Else you may not feel its caress much longer.
You feel a time shift, a changing season in the feelings. But what else can you do but go with it?
Just make sure you wrap up warm!
It's inevitable in a way, for the sun it sets.

Yuletide Felicitations!

I'd like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas!
It's time for us all to relax and spend some time
Enjoying one another's company,
Seeing things through that lovely festive shine!

I want peace on Earth, some happiness too,
Rather than any luxurious parcels and money.
Make sure you have fun with family and friends,
And it's a bonus should it all be rather funny!

Have a great time! Chief Scribe x

Lucy - in memory of my dear friend ( please visit justgiving.com/Dan-Alborough)

Lucy

Like a leading lady in a story from my youth
You came back to us for the second act.
Invited to tea, those self-deprecated skills being developed.
I was well fed, well watered and well pleased!
We laughed and chatted and worked
On the words about your previous life.

From such a drama of return, you were back with us all wholeheartedly
And lived life to the full, knowing what could be.
No nonsense and matter of fact, pressing onward.
New romance was desired and you found it too, and embraced it.
Another stage of life was entered, on the road ahead you continued,
rarely looking back.

Yet a change - and a cruel hand was dealt,
A change in health, at first not knowing, but then the truth.
Yet, so positive, such strong signs...
I never thought you'd be taken, it couldn't be done.
Darkness progressed and you were determined to outrun.

Not to be, fate intervened, and
You were gone. But I'll never forget what we had, what we all had in you.
You've left an imprint on all that's forever true.
For that, I'll use the words of your idol, The King -
Thank you very much.

Lyrics from 'The Lull' by Cat's Eyes, a recent listen...

Do you think of me at night?
'Cause you're always on my mind...
and I feel you by my side, see your face a thousand times,
and no matter what I do, all my thoughts return to you...

A warming ray

The cold and biting touch of times that went by, you recall, as do we all.
An icy burn, not the sizzle required, not the feel of warming strokes within soul and without.
We wait. Mercury rises and then falls, an uncertain difference that deceives.
Adjust everything, move it, and wonder when steadiness will arrive.
But now she's here, the one to push the door ajar into the glow.
We bask, roll into the fresh and new welcoming place that speeds to us.
We wait. I wonder, is it reliable, is it steady. Yes, a warming ray...

A Crying Shame

The whisper of vision across your neck, a glance to caress the way you move,
It's funny, but you seem to flicker and react slightly with every look.
The eyes they have it, they meet sometimes, swollen pupils, excitement swells...
Yet it will not take, it will not hold and I don't know why. It's a crying shame.

The time ticks by, it makes us sigh, also wonder why these things they do not shift.
We almost touched, desired by both I know for certain, but the last minute ended that....
I crack a joke, your face creases up, melted with mirth and glowing with a wondrous warmth.
Yet you will not touch, you won't give in and I don't know why. It's a crying shame.

Maybe it's wrong, is that what you feel? To cross a line you're told you shouldn't.
But you step to the edge, dip a toe, tease, which can't be fair?
We lead this dance, such a merry dance and it's so close to the surface....
Yet you hold it in, you won't show it and I don't know why. It's a crying shame.

Returns to Senders

Returns to Senders - below is a letter, read your own interpretation into this and write your own 'return'! This appeared in the Yarn5 and the first reply is in Yarn6 - out now in Norwich and Wymondham!

Dear Sam,

It's been a while since I last put pen to paper, so figured it was high time really! I hope you're doing well out there, enjoying the sun and maybe doing a little bit of work here and there?! I do miss you and our cosy chats, which would be getting a lot cosier with how chilly it's getting here now, the good old British Winter is setting in! Have you met anyone nice amongst the newbies? I must hear about all of the goss, because I know that there's bound to be plenty where you're involved! Never a dull moment! Things here are fine, work is plodding along nicely, pays the bills etc. and Simon and the kids are making nice piles of ironing for me as ever! There is something I need to ask you though, as well as checking on how everything is going.....you knew this moment was going to come, didn't you? Where is it please? It's something I need now I'm afraid and you know I'll make sure nothing goes wrong...?

Take care of yourself, look forward to hearing from you - soon please?

Love Debs x
